Conjunctions are words that connect clauses. Some conjunctions in Spanish require the subjunctive after them, while others do not. See the subjunctive tense for when to use it. Here are the most common conjunctions:

• pero=but
• o=or
• y=and
• que=that
  
• porque=because
• antes de que=before
• después de que=after
• desde que=since
• para que=so that, in order that
• hasta que=until
• cuando=when
• tan...que=as...as
• no sólo...sino=not only...but
• aunque=although
• entonces=then, so
